The Art Beat Tap Festival stands as a vibrant gathering, drawing talented dancers from across the nation to central Texas, all converging to celebrate the illustrious American art form of tap dance. The pinnacle of this captivating weekend unfolds in a dazzling faculty and community showcase at the esteemed Parker Jazz Club, featuring a stellar lineup of performers: Terrance Bennett, Terry Brock, Jay Fagan, Nicole Hockenberry, Brenna Kuhn, Sarah Savelli, and the incredibly talented Community Performers.

Distinguished and moving, our showcase includes a poignant tribute, "A Love Note to Barbara Phillips," dedicated to the late Mrs. Phillips. As the esteemed producer and artistic director of the Third Coast Rhythm Project’s Annual Summer International Tap Festival, Mrs. Phillips left an indelible mark. Her passion was evident in uniting world-class artists and musicians in San Antonio, fostering a love for tap dancing within the adult community, and passing on this joy to the next generation. Mrs. Phillips's legacy is one of dedication and mentorship, evident in her commitment to accessible programming, scholarship opportunities, community outreach, concert performances, and collaborations that extended the joy of tap dancing throughout the dance community. Join us in honoring and remembering this extraordinary individual whose contributions continue to resonate within the rhythmic heart of the tap dance world.

But that's not all - "Love Notes," the highlight of the evening, will present more than just incredible performances. We've prepared a special tribute to the legendary Leon Collins, featuring a suite of his routines. This unique collaboration brings together the phenomenal talents of the Austin Tap Ensemble and the Tri-Tone Rhythm Ensemble from Calgary, Canada. Adding to the magic, this performance will witness the premiere of The Dig Tap Society’s presentation of ‘The Ramsey Set’ – a heartfelt tribute to the late great Ramsey Lewis, beautifully choreographed by Sarah Savelli. Get ready for a night of unparalleled artistry and rhythmic storytelling that pays homage to the masters and introduces exciting new dimensions to the world of tap dance.
