Leon Collins, a tap virtuoso, believed that "Dancing is the poetry of the body as music is the poetry of the soul.”The Art Beat Foundation is working with Dianne Walker, tap master Leon Collins’ protégé, to create a written and video archive of Mr. Collins’ progressive educational routines and form The Leon Collins Institute to teach future generations. The Art Beat Foundation also began The Art Beat Tap Festival in 2019 to help share the great history of tap dance with the community by bringing guest artists from all over the world to teach master classes and present their work in concert with renowned jazz musicians.
